Bitrefill referral code: get $5 in Bitcoin when you spend $200

Get $5 in Bitcoin when you spend $200 on Bitrefill using a refer-a-friend link.

Bitrefill's refer-a-friend scheme credits both the new customer and the referrer with $5 in Bitcoin once the new customer verifies their email and spends $200 on the platform. Rewards are reviewed and paid out every 10 days. I've used Bitrefill to spend crypto on gift cards and mobile top-ups, and the Bitcoin has always landed once the spend threshold cleared.

My rating for this deal

This rates the Bitrefill referral itself: what you get, what you have to do to get it, and how long it takes to arrive. It isn’t a rating of Bitrefill as a company.

Why this rating

Paid in Bitcoin, which is consistent with what Bitrefill is for, and there is no cap on how many people you refer. The threshold is what costs it: you have to spend a substantial amount before a small reward unlocks, which is the worst ratio of effort to payout on the site.

What is Bitrefill?

Bitrefill lets you spend crypto on 10,000+ gift cards from retailers like Amazon, Steam, and Tesco, plus mobile top-ups and bill payments. Accepts Bitcoin (including Lightning), Ethereum, Solana, and more. Operating since 2014.

The accepted list runs past Bitcoin, Ethereum and Solana to Polygon and others, and the catalogue is worldwide rather than UK-only: Uber and international retailers sit alongside the supermarkets. Bitrefill is highly rated on Trustpilot (opens in new tab).

How does the Bitrefill referral scheme work?

Sign up via a referral link and spend $200 on the platform to earn $5 in Bitcoin. The $200 can be across multiple purchases. The referrer also gets $5 in Bitcoin. Rewards are credited to your Bitrefill rewards balance.

Email verification comes before anything else. The $200 counts across multiple purchases, with gift cards, top-ups and bill payments all qualifying, and the reward can then be spent on future purchases on the platform.

Who is Bitrefill best for?

Bitrefill is for crypto holders who want to spend BTC, ETH, or other coins on everyday goods without converting to fiat. Especially useful for Bitcoin Lightning users who want instant, near-free transactions. Not useful if you don't hold crypto.

If you buy gift cards anyway, routing them through Bitrefill earns crypto cashback on purchases you were making regardless. That is the case for holding an account even if you rarely spend crypto deliberately. It is also the condition on the rating in my firsthand Bitrefill review: if you hold no crypto, it solves a problem you do not have.

How Bitrefill compares to other crypto spending options

Bitrefill vs crypto debit cards: cards work everywhere but convert to fiat; Bitrefill keeps you in the crypto ecosystem. Lightning payments are instant and nearly free. Bitrefill has the widest gift card selection of any crypto platform.

The Lightning advantage matters most on frequent small purchases.
