ScottishPower referral code 2026: how it works, and how it compares

If you're after a ScottishPower referral code, the answer is the same as for most energy suppliers: ScottishPower runs a refer-a-friend scheme, but there's no code you type in. The reward tracks through a personalised link that an existing ScottishPower customer shares from their online account or app, so you need to know someone who's already with them. I've not been a ScottishPower customer, and unlike the Octopus and E.ON Next schemes on this site, this is not one I've been able to test, so the figures below are ScottishPower's published terms rather than something I've verified first-hand. Does ScottishPower have a referral code you can enter?
No. Like most UK energy suppliers, ScottishPower uses a personalised referral link, not a typed code. An existing customer finds their unique link in their ScottishPower online account or app and sends it to you. When you switch using that link and stay on supply, both accounts are credited.
So if you don't already know a ScottishPower customer, there's no public link that pays out, and any site advertising a generic "ScottishPower code" you can paste isn't how the real scheme works. A supplier whose referral link is public is the only self-serve route to a switching reward.
What the ScottishPower refer-a-friend scheme pays
From ScottishPower's published terms:
- Dual-fuel switch (gas and electricity): up to £60 in energy credit for each of you.
- Single-fuel switch (gas only or electricity only): £30 each.
- The credit is applied after around 28 days on supply, straight onto your energy account.
- There's no limit on how many friends you can refer.
Two things to note. First, unlike British Gas (which pays an Amazon-style voucher) or E.ON Next (a retail voucher), ScottishPower pays credit on your energy account, the same mechanism Octopus uses. Second, the full £60 needs a dual-fuel switch; move only one fuel and it's £30.
On the headline number, ScottishPower’s up-to-£60 is the most generous of the schemes compared here, and that is worth saying plainly.
Is the £60 worth chasing?
Only if you already know a ScottishPower customer and you’re moving both fuels. Miss either and it isn’t £60: no link means no reward at all, and a single fuel halves it to £30.
If you’re switching anyway, two schemes pay a flat £50 whichever fuels you move. Octopus Energy uses the same account-credit mechanism ScottishPower does, so on a dual-fuel switch the difference comes down to £10 and the wait: Octopus credits your bill once your first direct debit clears, against ScottishPower’s 28 days on supply. E.ON Next pays a retail voucher instead, worth choosing if you’d rather have spending money than a smaller energy bill. Neither needs an existing customer to send you anything.
