VOXI vs giffgaff 2026: is VOXI better than giffgaff?
TL;DR
VOXI pays the bigger referral, up to £40 in gift cards until 7 October 2026 against giffgaff’s £10 in credit until 31 August 2026. giffgaff is cheaper below £10/month, scores 3.9 on Trustpilot to VOXI’s 3.2, and pays out in days rather than two billing cycles.
If you just need the link, you can get your VOXI referral code here.
Affiliate disclosure: this post carries both a VOXI referral link and a giffgaff referral link, so I earn either way. The bigger reward to me is VOXI’s, and this page concludes giffgaff is the better pick for most people. Read the pricing table rather than the recommendation.
VOXI pays more, giffgaff pays faster and costs less. VOXI’s referral is a gift card worth up to £40 for referrals made by 7 October 2026, released only after your second monthly bill clears. giffgaff’s is £10 in account credit for a SIM activated by 31 August 2026, with the first £5 landing on activation and the second within three working days. Both figures are promotional: outside the promotions VOXI pays up to £20 and giffgaff £5.
I have been a giffgaff member since 2011 and joined VOXI in 2023 on a friend’s code. Both rewards arrived, on both sides, in the windows each network advertises.
Referral reward comparison
| VOXI | giffgaff | |
|---|---|---|
| Your reward | Gift card up to £40 (doubled until 7 Oct 2026; normally up to £20) | £10 account credit (doubled until 31 Aug 2026; normally £5) |
| When you receive it | After 2nd monthly payment | After SIM activation |
| Referral limit | Unlimited (£2,000/year cap) | Unlimited (15 joiners during the August 2026 promotion) |
| Requirement | Stay active for 2 months | Activate SIM with goodybag |
Both schemes happen to be running a promotion at once, which is why the gap looks narrower than usual, and the overlap ends on 31 August 2026: from 1 September giffgaff reverts to £5 while VOXI stays at up to £40 until 7 October. VOXI is the higher number either way, but its voucher is conditional on you still being a customer two billing cycles later; giffgaff's credit is yours the moment the SIM activates, and you can cancel the goodybag at the end of the month and keep it.
Neither network uses a code you paste at checkout. Both attribute the referral from the link you sign up through, so ordering direct and adding a code afterwards does not work on either.
Plan pricing
Aligned at common price points (rolling plans, no commitment):
| Price | VOXI | giffgaff |
|---|---|---|
| £6/month | 2GB | |
| £8/month | 5GB | |
| £10/month | 20GB + Endless Social Media | 20GB |
| £12/month | 25GB + Endless Social + Music | 26GB |
| £15/month | 35GB + Endless Social + Music + Video | 50GB |
| £20/month | 100GB + Endless perks | 100GB |
| £25/month | 200GB | |
| £30/month | Unlimited (no perk system needed) | |
| £35/month | Unlimited (rolling) |
giffgaff is cheaper at the entry tiers (£6 and £8), where VOXI has no equivalent. From £10 upwards the two are at price parity on raw data: VOXI matches giffgaff's data allowance and adds an Endless perk on top. At Unlimited, VOXI is £30 vs giffgaff's £35 rolling, but giffgaff's 18-month contract drops Unlimited to £25/month, undercutting VOXI by £5/month at the headline plan.
One thing the table hides: the £8 tier is also giffgaff's minimum qualifying goodybag for the referral credit. The £6/2GB plan sits below it, so the cheapest plan that still pays you £10 is £8/month.
The big differentiator: VOXI's Endless perks
Every VOXI plan includes uncapped data on a set of "Endless" apps:
- £10 tier: Endless Social Media: Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat, Facebook, WhatsApp, X and YouTube don't draw from your allowance
- £12 tier: adds Endless Music: Spotify, Apple Music and the other major streaming apps
- £15+: adds Endless Video: Netflix, Prime Video and similar
giffgaff does not offer any equivalent.
If you're a heavy social media user, VOXI's Endless Social Media effectively gives you much more usable data than the headline number. The 20GB on the £10 plan plus uncapped Instagram/TikTok/YouTube can outlast giffgaff's 26GB at £12 in real-world use, depending on how much of your usage skews toward those apps.
Network comparison
| VOXI | giffgaff | |
|---|---|---|
| Network | Vodafone | O2 |
| 4G coverage | 99%+ UK population | 99%+ UK population |
| 5G | Selected plans/areas | Selected goodybags/areas |
| Trustpilot score | 3.2/5 | 3.9/5 |
Coverage is comparable and customer satisfaction is not: the Trustpilot gap in that table is the widest difference between the two networks that isn't a price. On awards the two have swapped places. VOXI is a Which? recommended provider four years running and took uSwitch Mobile Network of the Year in 2026, the title giffgaff held in 2025; giffgaff's 2026 win was the narrower Best Mobile Handset Contract Network. Neither award measures coverage on your street, which is what actually decides this. My longer reads on each network are is VOXI worth it and is giffgaff worth it.
Contract flexibility
Both networks offer 30-day rolling plans with no exit fees. giffgaff additionally offers 18-month contracts for those who want a lower monthly price in exchange for a commitment.
Which should you choose: VOXI or giffgaff?
Choose VOXI if:

The live link and current terms for each scheme sit on its own page: VOXI refer a friend and giffgaff refer a friend.
VOXI vs giffgaff FAQs
Is VOXI better than giffgaff?
For most people, no. giffgaff is cheaper below £10/month, holds a better Trustpilot score (3.9 against 3.2) and pays its referral credit within three working days rather than after two monthly bills. VOXI is better in one specific case: if most of your data goes to Instagram, TikTok or YouTube, the Endless Social Media allowance on every VOXI plan means a £10 VOXI plan can outlast a bigger giffgaff goodybag, and VOXI's referral voucher is worth up to £40 against giffgaff's £10.
Which referral pays more, VOXI or giffgaff?
VOXI, on the headline number. VOXI pays a gift card worth up to £40 for referrals made by 7 October 2026 (up to £20 outside that promotion), against giffgaff's £10 in account credit for a SIM activated by 31 August 2026 (£5 after that). The trade-off is when and in what form: VOXI's voucher is spendable anywhere Amazon, PayPal or Just Eat is accepted but only arrives once your second monthly bill has cleared, while giffgaff's credit lands in days and can only be spent on giffgaff.
Is giffgaff cheaper than VOXI?
At the bottom of the range, yes, and by a wide margin: giffgaff starts at £6/month for 2GB and £8/month for 5GB, where VOXI's cheapest plan is £10/month. From £10 upwards they are level on data and VOXI adds an Endless perk for the same money. At Unlimited, VOXI's £30/month beats giffgaff's £35 rolling plan, and giffgaff's 18-month contract beats both at £25/month.
Can I claim both the VOXI and giffgaff referral rewards?
Yes. They are separate networks with separate schemes, and neither excludes customers of the other. You would need a SIM from each, which means paying for both plans, so it is only worth doing if you were going to run two lines anyway.
How long does each reward take to arrive?
giffgaff pays the first £5 on activation, usually within 24 hours, and the promotional second £5 within three working days. VOXI releases the voucher after your second monthly bill clears, so budget for roughly two months. On the referrer's side the gap is wider still: giffgaff Payback is paid out every six months, in June and December.
giffgaff vs VOXI: can I keep my number if I switch to either?
Yes, and the process is identical on both. Text PAC to 65075 from your current phone to get a PAC code, then enter it when you activate the new SIM; the number transfers within one working day and your old contract ends automatically. PAC codes expire after 30 days. Porting a number does not affect either referral reward: both are attributed from the link you ordered or signed up through, which happens before any number transfer.
